Why Become a Member of Stop MPRP, Inc.?

By becoming a member of Stop MPRP, you join a dedicated community committed to protecting Maryland's private and agricultural lands, natural beauty, and rural way of life against the Maryland Piedmont Reliability Project. Together, we advocate for preserving homes, natural landscapes, farmland, and the essential agricultural heritage supporting Maryland's food security and economy from out-of-state corporate interests.

Types of Memberships

Our membership campaign offers options for Individual, Family, and Corporate Memberships. Your membership dues go directly toward sustaining our efforts and supporting vital resources, such as:

  • Hiring Expertise: Your support enables us to retain professionals, including legal, environmental, health, engineering, and government relations experts, essential to opposing this project effectively.
  • Operational Needs: Dues contribute to the organization's infrastructure, covering costs like website maintenance, insurance, and printed materials—ensuring we’re prepared to fight for our shared vision.

Transparent, Volunteer-Driven Leadership

Currently, Stop MPRP is run entirely by a dedicated all-volunteer board, with many other volunteers who graciously contribute their time and expertise. The board is committed to transparent communication: if we decide to hire staff in the future, we will inform all members, supporters, and the general public.

What We’re Achieving Together

Your membership empowers ongoing initiatives such as:

  • Legal Representation in the CPCN Process: We’ve secured the services of the law offices of Carolyn Elefant to represent our organization and members during the CPCN process with the Maryland Public Service Commission (PSC).
  • Federal Legal Strategy: In partnership with Piliero Mazza, we’re advancing a federal legal strategy specifically related to government contracts, protecting Maryland communities from encroachment.
  • Engagement with Elected Officials: We are in regular contact with key policymakers to influence legislation that aligns with our mission.
  • Media Advocacy and Public Outreach: We actively participate in media interviews and attend events to raise awareness about the threats the Maryland Piedmont Reliability Project poses.
  • Expert Partnerships: We are collaborating with power, environmental, agricultural, and real estate experts to effectively challenge this project.

By joining Stop MPRP, Inc., you become part of a movement that values Maryland's landscapes, agricultural roots, and rural lifestyle. We invite you to stand with us and help make a difference in safeguarding our community's future.
